As announced by Mayor of Paros Mr. Ioannis Raggousis at the benefit concert given on the island by the popular Parian singer, Yannis Parios.
The matter of the air ambulance is a huge accomplishment and a great step forward for Paros. Beyond the invaluable health services it will provide for all of the residents as well as visitors to our island the air ambulance will act as a living symbol of a local community that, when united, can progress. A community that knows how to take its future in its own hands decisively and with certainty. At this point I want to announce that the great struggle of Paros, the City, the Veletzeiou and the Special Appraisers Committee, an exhaustive struggle that has lasted 3 ½ long years having passed through the “40 waves” and overcome innumerable obstacles has finally reached fruition.
Friends and neighbours, it is with great joy and emotion that I inform you that as of August 7th, 2006 Paros has acquired the air ambulance. It was purchased from the United States where all of the essential preparations are being made for its maintenance and outfitting and soon it will be travelling to be based on our island. I want you all to be aware that this has been accomplished with the austere legal supervision of the Regional Offices and in a spirit of constructive cooperation, as well as by the unanimous decision of the Plenary Session of the State Legal Council. The air ambulance has been legally “armoured”, its technical support and economic viability insured.
